Connolly Hospital has had its budget for this year slashed by 13 million.
Despite claims from the Health Service Executive (HSE) that the cuts are “cost neutral”, a consultant for the hospital believes they will lead to bed closures and cause increasing difficulties for the teaching hospital to provide adequate training for its staff.
The budget has been cut from e103 million to e90 million this year - a 12.6 per cent cut in funding for the hospital which has a catchment area that extends to Dublin West, Meath and Kildare. more.....
