Patients at two Dublin hospitals are currently forced to wait between 24 and 28 hours on average before being admitted through their emergency departments (EDs), according to latest statistics from the HSE. The figures show that the average ED waiting time for a patient in Beaumont Hospital's ED before eventually being admitted admitted is currently 28.2 hours. This is according to a HSE "league table" of trolley waits comprising 10 hospitals that account for over 30% of average daily attendances at EDs around the country. The table shows that the average waiting time through A&E for admitted patients at St James's Hospital in Dublin is 12 hours, and the average wait time for admitted patients at St Vincent's Hospital is seven hours. more.....
